One year ago when I turned 25 I never could have imagined the way I would be spending my 26th birthday. Did I know it would be a presidential election day? Yes. But everything else that has gone on in 2020? Not in a million years. I won't lie, my birthday wasn't great. I had a few nice things happen and got some sweet gifts, but for the most part it didn't feel like a birthday (other than the super delicious cake that I ate WAY too much of...oops!).
But I'm not going to dwell on that one day (though if anyone has the magical abilities to grant me a do-over I wouldn't say no!). Though 2020 has been a rough year, there were still plenty of great things that happened in my 25th year. I accomplished a lot, I experienced a lot, and I'm hopeful for what 26 will bring.
Here are 25 AWESOME things that happened while I was 25!
I directed an awesome, sold-out production of A Charlie Brown Christmas with 20 awesome kids!
I got to go to Boston to visit Kelsey and go to my third Jonas Brothers concert of 2020.
I got to be a part of the Jonas Brothers' American Music Awards performance at the aforementioned concert.
I went to an Anthony Ramos show that was arguably one of the best live performances I've ever seen!
I successfully ran my first Winter Break Camp at work in my new position.
I launched www.styledbykaylaxo.com!
I got back in a gym routine I enjoyed (then COVID hit... and then I got BACK into that routine again).
I launched the Life, Styled Podcast!
I got really in to Tik Tok... (does this count as a highlight or a time waster?)
I learned how to do virtual theater and put on several shows during a pandemic!
Taylor Swift dropped a surprise album that has become one of my favorite albums and gave me lots of isolated driving jams.
I worked with some brands I really love!
I got to go to the Bachelor Live On Tour and see my FAVORITE Bachelor, Ben Higgins, live in person! That was pretty epic.
I got laryngitis for the first time in my life and had to (read: failed at) be silent for a week. (Not normally something exciting, but was super surprising that 25 was the first time my loud mouth ever got it)
I finally had time to get back into reading and read more books this year than I have in one year since middle school.
I started my bookstagram!
I made a lot of book friends and bonded more with some real life friends over books.
I lost a lot of weight! (and even though I've gained some back in the past few weeks, I have strategies to keep moving forward that I am excited about)
I got to be on my bestie's Hannah Montana podcast.
I binged a lot of TV and movies that I hadn't had time for in awhile!
I reconnected with one of my college best friends.
I spent loads of time with family that I hadn't seen in years.
I designed and launched my first merch line!
Now some of these things are TOTALLY lame, but in 2020 we've really had to learn to appreciate the small things in life.
Bring it on year 26! Bring. It. On.
xo,
Kayla
