If you are anything like me, having visual representations of the things that inspire you in your workspace is incredibly important to you! Ever since I was a little girl, I would make collages of things that I enjoyed and hang them around my room or put them on the cover of my school notebooks and binders. When I got older, I realized these were building blocks of one of my favorite manifestation techniques – vision boards!
You can make vision boards for ANY aspect of your life. As long as the content on it motivates you towards the future or goals that you want to achieve! Here are my top five tips for making a vision board!
1. Have a plan but be flexible. You never know what images are going to jump out at you as you thumb through a magazine or do a Google image search. Have an idea of what you want to find but be open to the things the universe puts in front of you that spark your interest!
2. Activate your space! Clean your room before you get started. Put on comfy clothes and some pump-up music. If you make the process of making your vision board as inspiring as you want the vision board to be it will be a much more fun and beneficial experience.
3. Match your vision board to its surroundings. Where will you be hanging your board? When choosing images for your vision board, it’s important to think about where it will live. My room is full of bright colors (my furniture is mostly turquoise) so when I make a vision board, I want it to have as much color and personality as the rest of my room. If it looks out of place in the space that may distract you more than inspire you when you look at it later.
4. Add personal flare! Now, I’m definitely not an artist – I’ve drawn two good things and painted one great thing in my entire life – but I still add some doodles to my vision boards. This not only adds color but also my personal signature. You don’t have to be a great artist to enjoy the way your vision board looks. It is not in my goals that I want to be the next Picasso, so why would the doodles on my vision board need to be perfect?
5. Don’t stop at one. A vision board may not sustain you for years and years. My goals and dreams are evolving all the time, so my vision board needs to as well. When your current vision board isn’t doing it for you anymore, MAKE ANOTHER. And another, and another and another. You want to always be evolving as a person, so your goals and dreams will too.
I’d love to see all of your vision boards! Post them on Instagram using the hashtag #StyledByKaylaXO and tag me (@kayladanielle11)!
