You've been waiting for it - it's time for a true Read with Kayla! This week we have ELEVEN books to talk about. Coincidentally that is my favorite number and includes a re-read of my favorite series! Let's start by jumping into the new-to-me books I read!
Do you like sexy Irish musicians? Fake-it-til-you-make-it relationships? Then Roomies is for you! I loved this book! On the surface it may seem like it is just a romance novel, but has so many important themes including - what we do for the people we love, what we do to chase our dreams, and what it takes to get us out of our comfort zones. It is light and funny, but also sexy, but also incredibly endearing. I highly recommend this book!

Reading the description of this book I really felt like it was going to feel like fanfiction to read, and I wasn't wrong. As a lifelong fan of Little Women, I struggled with this imagination of the characters and their story. The concept was good and the writing wasn't bad, but I just couldn't get into this story that tries to set up Jo's Little Women as being fiction like Alcott's.

How did I let this gem sit on my bookshelf for nearly two years?!? Fake-it-til-you-make-it relationships and enemies to lovers are two of my favorite tropes, and this book does it with a twist of the fake relationship being a friendship which makes this book really an enemies to friends to lovers I guess? The ridiculous amount of (beloved and well done) tropes aside, I loved how real the relationships between all of the characters felt and I truly was rooting for most of them to have their happy endings. Definitely a must read!

If you read and enjoyed the Folk of the Air series, you have to read this! These charming stories about Cardan are truly delightful and made my Cardan loving heart so happy! I want more stories from Elfhame!

It is only February but this book may end up being one of my favorite books I read in 2021! Darcy and Elle are both extremely relatable (I am definitely a Darcy sun with an Elle rising, haha!) and this fake-it-til-you-make-it romance is so charming. Scheming brothers, astrology memes and relatable family drama are just some of the many reasons I adored Written in the Stars. I did not want this book to be over! A must read!
Rating: ★★★★★

I'm not usually a big fan of poetry books, but I adore Lili Reinhart so I had to read this! All in all the poetry is good, and I enjoyed it more than most poetry books!

I picked this book up because, as someone who, like Nick, is an avid horoscope reader, the idea of someone faking their crushes horoscopes to trick them into their arms equally angered and intrigued me. This book was a gem! I especially loved how the "cusp" chapters explored the ripple effects Justine's meddling had on other horoscope readers in her community. Shakespeare, horoscopes, meddling and rekindling childhood romances and friendships were just a few of the things that made this book incredibly charming and a great read!

Now let's talk about my re-read of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, which still all got five star ratings the second time around!
I decided I needed to re-read ACOTAR before ACOSF comes out on Tuesday as a refresher, but also just because I really do love these books! This time around I really focused on Nesta and Cassian to make sure I didn't miss anything that may be important going into reading ACOSF next week!
The main things that happened during this re-read were that I rekindled my love of these books AND I ended up with like 97 different theories of what could happen in ACOSF... TUESDAY COME FASTER!
Here are all of the links for these books!
Get ready for the next Read with Kayla where I'll get to talk about A Court of Silver Flames and we'll see if any of my theories are correct!
