Read with Kayla - March 14th to 27th

We're back with another Read with Kayla! The past two weeks have been a little slow bookwise, but the few books I did read were high quality!

Anthony and Kate are my new OTP. End of discussion. This book was so good, even better than The Duke and I. Kate is such a great addition to this world and I loved her spunk and how she threw it back at Anthony. I also loved getting into Anthony's head a little bit and learning about his (very irrational) fears and how they have colored everything in his life. This got me really excited to see it play out on Netflix in Bridgerton Season Two!

Rating: ★★★★★

Read if you love: Bridgerton, romance, strong women, strong sibling bonds

I'm a sucker for a good Hades and Persephone retelling and this one didn't disappoint. I loved the idea of a modern world that is still deeply influenced by the Olympians and it was really well done. I think it had a great amount of spice, Persephone and Hades were both enjoyable characters and I can't wait to read the next one!

After being somewhat let down after Siege and Storm, I was a bit nervous for the final book in the Shadow and Bone trilogy. Luckily for me, this book did not disappoint! I feel it wrapped up all of the plot points well, had lots of twists and turns that I didn't see coming and had a conclusion that felt justified and left me excited to move on from Alina's story to other characters in the Grishaverse! I cannot wait to see this trilogy brought to life on Netflix!

Read if you love: Shadow and Bone, strong women, fighting the good fight

Everyone told me how much I would love Six of Crows and they were right! I was very excited to get to know more of the world of the Grishaverse after finishing Shadow and Bone and loved this story about some unlikely heroes. A lot of the characters are very relatable and the dynamics between all of them are captivating. I couldn't put this book down and immediately started Crooked Kingdom when I finished. I'm glad that these characters are going to make an appearance in the Netflix Shadow and Bone show, because some of them are way more interesting than the characters from that series!

Rating: ★★★★

Read if you love: Unlikely heroes, Grishaverse, adventures, plot twists, strong women

It's rare that I like the second book in a duology more than the first, but I LOVED Crooked Kingdom. The characters became so much more developed and really dealt with their trauma while completing their mission. It was nice to see some familiar characters from the Shadow and Bone trilogy appear and I can't wait to see what comes next. Leigh Bardugo has set up a world with the Grishaverse that she could write forever and never run out of interesting stories and I hope she does!
