We are ending May strong with three of the books I was most excited for on my May TBR, including two May 2021 releases! It was definitely a slower reading month this month, but the quality of books was so good, I'm not at all mad about it!
Hades and Persephone are back and their relationship has gone public! I really enjoyed this book, especially after hearing people say they thought that it felt really out of character for Persephone, but I didn't feel that way at all! She felt like a woman really struggling to figure out what she wants to present to the world, how she wants to wield her power, and how the people in her life and the things she wants go together. She had her selfish and flawed moments sure, but they made her more relatable. My only wish is that we got to see more growth in her relationships, because even though she and Hades hit some big milestones in this book, they still interact very similarly to how they did at the end of A Touch of Darkness. I'm excited to read on and see how things progress after the big cliffhanger! Overall, I was impressed and still am hooked!

Alexandria Bellefleur's first book in this series, Written in the Stars, has been one of my absolute favorite reads of 2021 so far, so I had incredibly high hopes for this book about the brother and best friend of one of the characters from the first. If I thought that WITS was amazing, Hang the Moon was EXTRAORDINARY! Annie and Brendon had me laughing, crying, hoping, nearly throwing my book against the wall and believing in true love - sometimes all on the same page. Bellefleur writes incredibly relatable characters, beautiful relationships, and some EXCELLENT spicy scenes. I am so glad she is continuing on with these characters in her next book (about Margot - Elle's bestie finding love!) because I'm not ready to say goodbye to this group of awesome humans living their best lives in Seattle. Romance is not dead, and you'll believe that too after this book! Go read it! NOW!

This may have been my number one most anticipated read of 2021, and it did not disappoint! Victoria Aveyard is a master world builder and I loved every single moment of this book! The concept was enough to hook me, but the execution far exceeded my expectations. The characters are all fascinating and fully developed, I had moments where each of the POV characters became my favorite (yes...even the baddies!) and I still can't choose who I love the most. This is a true high fantasy and was action packed the whole way through. I cannot wait for the next book!
