Read with Kayla - September 13th to 19th

This week was an INCREDIBLE week of reading for me! However, it may be a bit boring for you. This week I read things that made my soul happy! I powered through a series that I had fallen in love with, read a Twisted Tale of one of my favorite Disney movies and did some self exploration through a book about the enneagram. No audiobooks or ARCs this week, just some things that bring me joy! Be sure to follow me on Instagram - ReadWithKaylaXO to see what I'm reading in real-time!

Physical/eBooks

1. A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

This book made my mom ask me if I was okay... The amount of twists and turns at the end had me gasping and yelling and crying. And this was nothing compared to the next one! I fell in love with these characters even more than in ACOTAR. I am so invested in their stories. Also... chapter 55... just, chapter 55...

Rating:★★★★★

Read if you love: magic, mystery, Fae, forbidden romance, badass women, true friendships

2. A Whole New World by Liz Braswell

Aladdin is one of my favorite Disney movies so I was super excited to read this Twisted Tale. I really enjoyed the camaraderie, adventure and rebellion of this story where Aladdin does not end up rubbing the lamp. It wasn't my favorite of them, but this one was definitely a win for the Twisted Tales anthology!

Rating: ★★★

Read if you love: Aladdin, adventure, fighting for what you believe in

3. A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

A friend had warned me that this one wasn't as good as ACOMAF, but I completely disagree! Did I hate the beginning? Absolutely. But that was only because I was so angry for Feyre and Rhys at their circumstances. The war was definitely hard to read, but so full of the things that make this series great. I spent the last 150 pages in tears. I haven't been this invested in a series in a long time!

Rating: ★★★★★

Read if you love: having your heart ripped out!

4. A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas

I love a good companion novel! Taking place after ACOWAR, this book takes us through how our Night Court faves are doing after the war with Hybern. It's nice to see them all so relaxed and getting back to "normal" life. We get to learn more about the psyche of some of the characters we haven't gone as deep into and it was super cool!

Rating: ★★★★★

Read if you love: Winter, ACOTAR, celebration

5. The Enneagram of Belonging by Christopher L. Heuertz

My one non-fiction book of this week has been sitting on my shelf for a few months now waiting to be read! I really enjoyed Heuertz' book The Sacred Enneagram so I was excited to dive into this book. In this book Heuertz dives deeper into the enneagram and even backtracks on some things he wrote about in The Sacred Enneagram. I love non-fiction authors who are able to acknowledge that their thoughts and ideas have changed and evolved over time, since that is a very human thing! I love the enneagram and can't wait to do the workbook that came out along with this book!

Rating: ★★★★

Read if you love: the enneagram, self-discovery

Alright, there you have it - the last you'll hear me talk about Feyre and Rhysand until January! Unless you follow me on IG... then I'm sure you'll hear more! I hope you all read some great books this week!

xo,

Kayla
