Self Care Everyday

I think there are a few huge misconceptions about self care in the world. I see people often saying self care is all bubble bath and chocolates and spending tons of money. Others see it as a selfish act. That if you are focused on taking care of you, you don't care about others. I call BS.

Self care is an essential part of being a functioning human and is for everyone. It looks different for every person, every day. What is most important is that you take time every day to do something to take care of you. I firmly believe that practicing self care every single day is crucial. (So much so that I launched merch with that saying on it! Read to the end for a discount!)

Some days this is going to look like the bare minimum. I know I certainly have days where the only self care I can do is taking a shower and doing my full skin care routine. Make sure you are taking care of the essentials, and then see what else you can do.

Here are some of my favorite self care activities:

  1. A long workout

  2. Making an epic playlist to vibe out to

  3. Bake your favorite treat

  4. Do a face mask

  5. Call a friend

  6. Order take-out from your favorite restaurant

  7. Sleep in an extra 30 minutes

  8. Paint your nails (or get someone else to!)

  9. Start your favorite TV series over

  10. Write

  11. Belt your favorite song like no one is listening

  12. Read a good book

  13. Throw a dance party for one (or more once this pandemic is over)

  14. Pour yourself a glass of wine

  15. Shut your phone off for a little while

This is just barely tipping the iceberg of what you can do to take care of yourself. Some of these may seem superficial for you, but that's the great thing about SELF care, it's personal. Find what works for you and do it!

Don't forget to check out the SBK Merch Store for "Self Care Everyday" merch and use code SELFCARE for 20% your order through the end of November!

What is your favorite way to practice self care?
