The 10 Best Books I've Read in Quarantine (So Far...)

As of today I have read 45 books since Washington went into our Stay Home, Stay Safe lockdown. Some were re-reads but many have been new books. Though not all of them have been great, there have been a lot of awesome ones! Here (in no particular order) are my top 10 books I've read in 2020 so far!

1. The Selection (series) by Kiera Cass

This series may actually deserve the top spot on this list! I don't know how I never got around to reading this series before. My friend Corissa suggested I read it and I devoured the entire 5 book series in 2 days. I cannot wait for the Netflix film adaptation! (Amazon)

2. Chosen Ones by Veronica Roth

This new novel by Veronica Roth takes place in an alternate universe set in contemporary times. It was so incredibly fascinating and it was nice to read a book written by one of my favorite YA authors with characters closer to my own age. I could not put this book down! (Amazon)

3. The Enneagram for Relationships by Ashton Whitmoyer-Ober

You may know Ashton as @enneagramashton on Instagram or from her "Say Enneathing" Podcast. This book has wonderful descriptions of the different relationships with the different types. I highly suggest you check out this book if you have any interest in the Enneagram. (Amazon)

4. The Siren by Kiera Cass

Surprise, surprise - another Kiera Cass book! The Siren was the first of Cass' books. I wish so much that it was a series. I NEED to know what happened to Kahlen! (Amazon)

5. The Five Second Rule by Mel Robbins

I was already familiar with Mel Robbins' 5 Second Rule but had yet to read the book. This book was full of examples of people using this strategy in their lives and was incredibly inspiring. It is a MUST READ. (Amazon)

6. Three Sisters, Three Queens by Philippa Gregory

If you know anything about me you know that I am a HUGE Tudor Era England nerd. My favorite historical fiction books have always been Philippa Gregory's. This one is about Katherine of Aragon, Margaret Tudor and Mary Tudor (Henry VIII's sisters). I enjoyed every minute of it! (Amazon)

7. The Upside of Being Down by Jen Gotch

I never knew much about Jen Gotch, founder of ban.do, other than that my sister and I loved her products! This book is a sometimes painful and sometimes (appropriately) hilarious account of her life and struggles with mental health over the years. I highly recommend! (Amazon)

8. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert

Most people know Elizabeth Gilbert's book Eat, Pray, Love, but this book is an inspiring call to arms for those who want to live a life of art. The advice is tangible and the stories relatable and spiritual. (Amazon)

9. So This is Love by Elizabeth Lim

This is the Cinderella book of the Disney's Twisted Tales collection. I really like these books, but out of the ones I've read so far this one is my favorite, which makes sense since Cinderella is my favorite Disney princess! I highly suggest you read the one based on your favorite Disney story! (Amazon)

10. Get Out of Your Own Way by Dave Hollis

Written in the same style as his wife, Rachel's two books (Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing - which are both incredible as well!), Dave's book unpacks the lies that he has told himself over the years and how he moved past them. Y'all know how much I love the Hollis' and this book did not disappoint! (Amazon)
