Things That Make My Mornings Great

As the sign beside my bed says - "Wake Up, Kick Ass, Repeat" (BTW - Best Secret Santa gift ever - thanks Michael!)! It's hard to get to the kicking ass part of your day if you don't have a solid morning routine to get your day started the right way. My morning routine has had several small changes throughout the past year, but the core of it is still much the same.

I posted my current morning routine on YouTube today as well, but I also wanted to give you all some of the key things that I feel make my morning routine a success at setting me up for a kick ass day!

  1. Make your bed first thing when you get out of it. The small act of making your bed can put you in a great mindset for the rest of the day. Doing this tiny clean-up/organization task always makes me feel more organized all day. It may seem silly, but it works for me!

  2. Start your day with gratitude. Gratitude is so important. I've told you all a million times how much I think searching for gratitude is a key to success, but starting your day with it is a great way to put yourself in a good headspace for the rest of your day. It gives you a chance to reflect on the day before and reminds you to search for things to be grateful for in a new day.

  3. Get a paper planner and use it! I love my GCal y'all, don't get me wrong, but actually physically writing out the things I have coming up in my day really helps me motivate and focus for the day. I love my Start Today Priority Planner because it has the hourly set up for the day, but also tools to help you really organize and prioritize your tasks for the month, week and day.

  4. Make time for you in the morning. It's really easy to just focus on getting ready and getting out the door in the morning, but that just leads to stress. Once I have gotten ready and done my journals for the day, I always sit down and read or watch a YouTube video while I eat breakfast. Doing one thing I enjoy before I jump into my work day helps me to enter my work much calmer than if I had been rushing to get ready.

Be sure to check out the video below for my current morning routine!

What is the most important part of your morning routine?

Kayla
