Like many places in the world, Washington State has just announced more restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. For many of us that means going back to staying home more than we were the past few months when cases were down. Now that we've done this once before we all have started to come up with routines and activities that help us through these lockdowns, but this second time around it might be good to switch it up a little!
Today I wanted to share some of the things that got me through our Spring stay-at-home order and that I am going to be continuing doing/buying/enjoying in this new November stay-at-home order.
Comfy Clothes
The number one most important thing that I bought tons of this year and lived in was comfy/lounge clothes. Now that we are headed into winter, it feels even more important.
Target has been my go to this year. Their lines Stars Above and Wild Fable have so many awesome sweatpants, sweatshirts and full sweatsuits. They also have some awesome Christmas pajamas!
I may be a little biased, but I also did just release my merch line that has lots of sweatshirts and long sleeves that make for awesome lockdown wear! I'm living in my samples right now!
Masks
If you have to venture outside your home, masks are so important. Some of my favorite ones I've ordered are from Fashion Nova, Old Navy and Erin Condren!
Games
Okay, now that we are comfy and safe, let's talk about some things to do. If you live with others (or even if you don't), game nights (or lunch breaks) are a great way to pass the time.
My family has played a lot of Ticket to Ride and card games like Cards Against Humanity.
I've also been having tons of virtual game nights with my friends I can't be with right now! We jump on a Zoom call and play virtually hosted games. Some of our favorites are Among Us, Codenames, and all of the Jackbox Games! It's been a great way to spend time with people from a far and to have laugh our asses off about.
Projects
Something that has been really important to me is having creative projects to work on. These have ranged from something as small as making a tie blanket (using fabric I bought from Joann's so long ago) to something as big as starting my novel for NaNoWriMo. I've been doing lots of work on SBK (including designing the merch line and launching Life, Styled) as well.
Home projects are great as well! This spring we cleaned out and organized our garage (a full day process). I've also rearranged my bedroom... twice, and we decorated for Christmas early! Get things done that you maybe haven't had time for before.
Learn
Y'all know how important learning is to me. I've been spending a lot of time during lockdowns learning new things and expanding my knowledge on others. I've taken classes through skillshare, I've purchased one off workshops from authors I enjoy, and I've attended two virtual conferences! There are so many opportunities coming out to learn from the comfort of your own home. Take advantage!
And of course... TV Binges
We're only human of course! I've watched quite a few full shows during quarantine. I love historical shows like The Spanish Princess and The Tudors (same era, both totally have major inaccuracies, but I love it!). I also just rewatched The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies. I also love reality and competition TV. I'm currently switching back and forth between Married at First Sight and The Great British Baking Show.
No matter what you do in these crazy next few weeks, please be safe! I know this is hard, but I'd rather we all have to stay home for awhile than have more people die.
Sending you lots of love!
xo,
Kayla
