Why I'm Doing MyWW

If you follow my health and fitness Instagram, HealthByKaylaXO, you may have noticed that I’m doing something new for my weight loss. Back in December I joined MyWW, and it has been one of the best decisions I have made in a long time! Today I wanted to share a little snippet of my journey with you.

Back in December I had a doctor appointment. When they weighed me, I weighed 368 pounds, which is the most I have ever weighed in my whole life. It was jarring to say the least. My doctor, wanting to support me in whatever way she could, suggested I try Weight Watchers. She totally saw the fear in my face and instantly reassured me that they were so different now than in the early 2000s. They have done several rebrands and created several new programs over the years and are a little more up with the times. So, hesitantly, I agreed and when I got home that night, I signed up for MyWW.

To say that December 11th was a TERRIBLE time to sign up for MyWW is an understatement. Not only would I be starting over the holidays and having to figure out how to track in front of my whole family at Christmas, but I was working 13-14-hour days EVERYDAY with all of our holiday programs at work. I was eating on the go almost every day and was only home to sleep. Those first few weeks were super stressful. I tried my hardest, didn’t track on Christmas but still made good choices, and by the end of December, I had lost 6 pounds by half-assing MyWW Blue.

On January 10th, when work had finally settled down and we were out of the holiday season, I started doing my plan full out. I tried to always stay within my “Healthy Eating Zone” and tracked EVERYTHING! At the of January, I was down 16 pounds and ready to take on a Blue Dot Challenge (staying in my Healthy Eating Zone every day) for February. I succeeded! At the end of February, I was down 28 pounds and well on my way to hitting my first goal on time.

My first goal was to lose 30 pounds by my check-up with my doctor on March 11th. I hit that goal on March 4th and was ecstatic! This week, I maintained, which was a little frustrating. But seeing my doctor’s excitement at that 30-pound loss really put things in perspective for me. I’ve accomplished something incredible and I should be proud! Maintaining is better than gaining and now I know I need to just work a little harder next week.

I’m so grateful for MyWW and the community I have found from it. This journey isn’t easy, but it will. Be worth it in the end. If you want to continue following my journey head over to the HealthByKaylaXO Instagram account. I post my weigh-in results every Wednesday as well as lots of other content.

XO,

Kayla
