Why I'm Ready For Fall

Fall is my favorite season of all time. I was born in the fall, I thrive in the fall. As we enter the worst part of Summer (hell hot heat, autumn in sight but still so far away, pumpkin spice coming out in 3 DAYS!), I thought I would share some of the reasons I am SO ready for it to be fall.

  1. I'm sick of the hot weather. Some of you may thrive on the sunshine and heat, and I'll admit that I am a sucker for a beautiful summer day, but I am exhausted of all the heat. My house was NOT made for hot and muggy PNW summers and I do not sleep well at all in August. My room is the hottest in the house at all times and no amount of fans pointed directly at my body can help.

  2. I miss wearing layers! My favorite clothes are sweaters and maxi skirts and leggings and scarves. I love layers and fall colors and boots. Fall fashion is my favorite and most of my closet consists of my favorite autumn pieces that are just sitting there unloved (hence why I put a sweater on this morning for the photos for this post! My sweaters miss me! LOL).

  3. Pumpkin. Spice. Need I say more? I am that basic bitch who loves her pumpkin everything. Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Pumpkin Creme Cold Brews, Pumpkin Candles, Pumpkin Baked Goods, ALL THE PUMPKIN. I'm so ready for Tuesday's PSL Starbucks launch, but I know I won't be having a good old fashion hot PSL for several more weeks because of this miserable heat.

  4. Sweater Weather is my favorite weather. Now I don't just mean wearing sweaters, we discussed that already. I love a good grey and rainy day where you just want to curl up on the couch wrapped up in sweaters and blankets with a mug of coffee and a good book. These are my favorite. This longing more my autumn days amplified when Taylor Swift released "folklore", which in my opinion is a true fall album and shouldn't have been released in July. I'm so ready for my vinyl of it to get here in October and be the mood of my autumn.

  5. Thanksgiving. Okay, so Thanksgiving is a stupid holiday with an awful history that we shouldn't celebrate, but there is no denying that it is the best food holiday we have in the US. I love love love Thanksgiving food and Thanksgiving leftovers. I'm so ready for those turkey, stuffing and cranberry sandwiches! Also mashed potatoes are my religion, so there's that too. (Ask my mom, she'll agree)

There are so many more things I could talk about about why I'm ready for Fall, but those five just about sum it up.

Now I try to be a writer who sees both sides of an argument so now I will tell you one reason I am NOT looking forward to fall.

  1. My Birthday. For two reasons I am not looking forward to November 3rd. #1 - I hate when my birthday falls on election day, it just causes me so much anxiety over the future of our country that I can't enjoy my day. (PS - VOTE FOR BIDEN. THE US CAN'T SURVIVE FOUR MORE YEARS OF TRUMP. DON'T MAKE MY BIRTHDAY WORSE!) The second reason is I'm in denial of turning 26! Can I be 22 again?

So there you have it. Fall needs to be here like yesterday! Let me know your favorite things about fall in the comments!

xo,

Kayla
